While it is not uncommon today in the recruiting world to utilize some type of science (DISC, Cultural Index, Strength Finder, etc.), most of these tools only focus on a single science; often HOW a person will behave on the job. When using a traditional, single-science assessment, you can miss (or must assume) so much about what truly makes a person who they are. At ESP, we utilize a multi-science approach providing our clients with detailed insight and deep understanding of a candidate’s complete profile. We uncover a candidate’s HOW, WHY and WHAT which ultimately, leads to optimal hires.

HOW – Behavioral Style
The first science in our assessment measures ‘how‘ a person will behave on the job. Behavioral style is determined early on in life and changes little over a lifetime. Knowing a person’s style is significant. While any person can fulfill a role, being successful is often tied to having the right style for a particular role.
WHY – Personal Motivators
Adding a second science allows us to take a deeper dive into the world of personal motivation. We learn ‘why’ a person behaves the way they do. Knowing personal motivators not only helps ensure they are suited for a particular role but provides insight into keeping the individual motivated to be successful going forward.
WHAT – Acumen & Competencies
The 3rd science measures soft skills (the ‘what’) which can be very challenging to measure through a standard interview process. This science focuses on answers to the following candidate questions:
- Do they understand others?
- Do they work well within certain systems and processes?
- Do they respect authority?
- How do they view themselves?
- Do they have clarity in their roles (personal and professional)?
- Do they have a purposeful direction in life?
